What are uncleared transactions?

Uncleared transactions are financial entries in the bookkeeping software that have not been matched to a real world bank account transaction. The Bank Reconciliation check uses the strictest state regulations for grace period on uncleared transactions, which depend on whether the money is coming into, or leaving, the bank account in question. Why DAILY Bank Recs?

Because then we can catch any issues and report them to you in real time! Imagine how much easier it would be fixing a deposit issue from two days ago while it’s fresh on your mind vs something that happened a few weeks ago! This also allows you to make any corrections in the current month (before that month is closed) and therefore the need for any “creative accounting” to get things in balance is greatly reduced.

What if I don’t know how to enter/fix one or more of my missing transactions?

What are Placeholders and how do I fix them once they’re entered?

Every month we set a Placeholder day (usually around the 10th of the month) that is the deadline for all missing transactions for the previous month to be entered into the your database. If these missing transactions are not entered by this date we enter what we call a Placeholder. This is a Journal Entry on the Corp Property that fills the place of the missing transactions so we can reconcile and keep the reconciliations current.
